- Wrote thousands of stories over 18 years under deadline pressures, covering primarily the political, crime and military beats in one of the nation’s few remaining competitive daily newspaper markets. Regularly chosen to cover the day’s most important stories, from corruption scandals and devastating natural disasters to breaking news and sensational murder trials. Post stories online in urgent fashion.

- Appeared on the “Crime Stories with Nancy Grace” podcast about the murder of a young mom, prompting her to react: “Bob, if I could reach through this camera and hug you and kiss you right now, I would.”
- A career highlight was a yearlong project, 70-Year Salute, which chronicled the service of 21 local World War II veterans in a 48-page special section, forever capturing their stories for future generations.
